My Oyin products review :-)

So I finally got around to trying out the Oyin products I scored (for .44 cents!) at the store's bottling party up in Baltimore. The products I'm reviewing today are: the Honey Wash, HoneyHemp conditioner, Frank Juice, and the Whipped Pudding.

Here's what my hair looked like before washing:

The first product I used was Oyin's Honey Wash.

It says on the label that it can be used as both a hair and body wash. I think that explains why the consistency is a little thinner than your regular shampoo, but it still works as an excellent cleanser. The Honey Wash goes on smooth and feels silky as you lather it up. In fact, it got my hair so soft by itself I really didn't need to use the HoneyHemp conditioner (although I did anyways for the sake of this review).

The Honey Wash smells great, too. It's not a very strong scent; it reminds me of the smell of almond soap.

All in all, I think it's a great multi-use product and I'll definitely be using it again.

After lathering up with the Honey Wash, I used the HoneyHemp conditioner.

The consistency of this product was like mayonnaise: thick and creamy. This also went on smoothly, and I didn't have to use a lot of the product to coat my hair either. I left it on for a few minutes then rinsed. It made my hair even softer and all curly and smooshy to boot smile

Here's my hair after using both the Honey Wash and the HoneyHemp conditioner:

Honey Hemp's not a very heavy product, but it did weigh my hair down some (not that I mind). It says on the label you can also leave the product in as a leave-in conditioner. I didn't use it as a leave-in this time, but I may try it in the future.

The HoneyHemp conditioner smells sweeter than the Honey Wash, kinda coconut-y and fruity. It's a slightly stronger scent, but not at all overpowering.

I usually retwist my roots with shea butter, but this time I used Oyin's Whipped Pudding. I wasn't sure how it would leave my hair looking, as in the jar it looks like marshmellow fluff:

The Whipped Pudding worked surprisingly well as an alternative to my shea butter though. The consistency looks thick, but it's actually pretty light (a little like whipped cream) and goes on smoothly, too. I thought the Whipped Pudding might make my hair look all clumpy and waxy when I started twisting with it, but you can't even tell it's in my hair once it's applied. It held my locs well too, just as well as the shea butter. As I worked my way around my head I was already contemplating getting my next jar of it, lol.

The smell of this stuff is fantastic. Every time I smell it my mouth waters. It smells like chocolate, with a hint of cocoa butter. Mmmm.

The Whipped Pudding can also be used as a body pomade. I used some on my hands, but didn't notice a huge difference between that and my regular lotion. Although my hands smelled DELICIOUS.

Last, I sprayed my finished hair with some of Oyin's Frank Juice.

The Frank Juice, like Oyin's ever-popular Greg Juice, is a leave-in moisturizer. This isn't so much a comment on the product itself, but it must be shared: the little spritzer mechanism on my bottle = AMAZING. Seriously, I could use the bottle in both hands for once (I'm a lefty so these types of things get tricky sometimes). The spritzer didn't clog up either. Awesome.

Anyways, I used the Frank Juice in place of my usual leave-in moisturizer, Jamaican Mango & Lime. Frank Juice made my scalp feel cool and moisturized when I sprayed it on, just like my JML product. The only difference is the scent. Frank Juice has a very strong, spicy smell to it, likely due to the frankincense and myrrh ingredients. It smells kinda like a Rasta*, or like you stepped into a room full of incense. I'd classify the scent as more of a masculine one, so all you natural dudes out there, get on this. Surprisingly, the scent wasn't as strong as it is in the bottle when I sprayed it on my hair.

Frank Juice is an oil-free product, so it didn't leave my hair all greasy either. Not sure I'd use this on the regular (I do love my JML leave-in), but if you're looking for a decent spray moisturizer with a not-too-girly scent, you may wanna give Frank Juice a try.

* Just kidding. I know Rastas come in various scents wink

This is what my hair looked like after using all four Oyin products:

SUPER SOFT

MEGA SHINE

BONUS REVIEW: Oyin's Stick o' Joe

Stick o' Joe is a delicious-smelling coffee and cocoa butter lip balm. Once you apply it, it instantly melts into your lips. My only complaint is that I wish it stayed on longer. I put it through the ultimate test: leaving it on overnight. The balm was gone by morning, but when I woke up my lips were still kissably soft.

The shine factor isn't off the scale either, so it's safe for gals and guys to use.
