These songs/videos almost make me forget him beating up Rihanna

I haven't paid that much attention to Chris Brown since he pummeled Rihanna's face. Putting your hands on a chick isn't cool or smart, especially when the b*tch is famous, duh. That little slip-up got all the songs of his I have on my iPod a quick fast forward from then on. Until he and rapper Tyga dropped their Fan of a Fan mixtape. I was all set to ignore this offering as well, until I actually heard the songs and peeped the videos.

I'm actually... impressed. Listening to these joints made me forget what he did to ol' girl and enjoy the music again. Although the cussing and sexuality might surprise some of his fans, I think it signals Chris' growth as a man and an artist. I mean, he can't stay an innocent little R&B/Pop star forever, and neither can he be The Dude Who Hit Rihanna for the rest of his life. These new songs reflect that thinking.

As for the videos, the dancing is on point, as we've come to expect from Mr. Brown. I'm digging the artistic vibe of the first video, "Deuces." The black and white film used to shoot this video adds a certain visual drama, which compliments the song nicely.

As for "No Bullshit," that song has firmly established its place in my Getting It On playlist. The video is also well-done, with Chris alternately dancing on a rooftop and putting it on his lady friend. Even though I hate this term, there's no better way to describe the vibe of this video: grown & sexy, all night long.

I can leave or take Tyga, but regarding Chris Brown, Fan of a Fan is the first thing I've heard from him in a minute that I'm actually looking forward to hearing more of.
