NOTD: A "Get Over That Man" mani & "Don't Be Petty" Pedi

To cheer up the homie D and get her through some temporary relationship woes, we had some Girl Time chatting it out and painting it up! With a busy week ahead of us full of multiple outfit changes and whatnot, I kept her mani colors neutral but fun.

Colors used:

Essie Playa Del Platinum (base)
Sephora by OPI Already Famous (shimmery gold used on the diagonal)
Wet n Wild Never Been Kissed (white diagonal stripe)

I finish my mani/pedis off these days with a swipe of olive oil on the cuticles. Man, that stuff is so versatile!

A closer look

Tackling the toes, I went for a bright summery coral accented with little flowers. Nothing like tantalizing tootsies to kick that man out of your life! Lmao.

Wet n Wild Never Been Kissed (flower petals)
Nicole by OPI The Grape Debate (center of flowers)
OPI Who The Shrek Are You? (leaves)

Perfect for chillin' poolside, which is exactly what we did the following day...

Designer... nails... in... the... club

Since the coveted Chanel 2.55 bag is a little out of my budget at about $3,500 (to say the VERY least lol), I decided to get my Chanel fix in a more attainable manner: on my nails!

Peep 'em:

I got these interlocking "C" decals off eBay, the holy grail for all things random, cheap, and awesome. Next I think I'll get some YSL decals. How hot would that symbol look against a nude polish background?!

NOTD: Nails that make you go "!"

This week's mani was inspired by a pic I stole from the talented ladies at WAH Nails:

You may remember the color scheme from a previous NOTD post. Nothing pops quite like hot pink and bright blue! This go 'round I went with a more subdued color scheme using OPI's San Tan-Tonio and my brand new, very trusty Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black.

My accent nail was all WAH-inspired goodness though: shimmery pink base thanks to Claire's Mood Color Changing Polish in Calm/Wild, white polka dots thanks to my Orly dotting tool and Wet & Wild Never Been Kissed, and again, my increasingly handy and wonderful Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black.

Here's a closeup of that accent nail. The SH nail art pen is so great! Makes doing intricate or tiny designs by hand MUCH much easier. I wonder how I functioned so long without one:

Fabulous, no? Now haters have something pretty to look at as I flip them off--besides my pimp ring, of course

NOTD: Who The Shrek Are You? with Lucky Lucky Lavender half moons

In honor of spring officially being here, I painted my nails the color of pollen--and also our favorite friendly ogre, Shrek:

Released last year in OPI's Shrek Forever After collection, OPI Who The Shrek Are You? is certainly a standout. OPI was spot-on in getting this color just the right yellowy-green shade as Shrek himself.

OPI Who The Shrek Are You? is such a fun, bright, and unusual color. For adventurous nail fiends like myself, it's a great springtime color as well, kinda like leaf buds sprouting at the ends of your fingertips

Single nail colors, as vivid and unique as they may be, just aren't cutting it for me these days, so I spiced up the look by adding some half moons courtesy of OPI's Lucky Lucky Lavender:

iLove! This is such an eye-catching and complimentary color combo, and the added shine (courtesy of my new go-to topcoat, Seche Vite) makes it that much better.

Now if only I could fight the urge to sneeze every time I admire my nails...

NOTD: Rainbow flake galaxy nails

This week's mani I created using the same colors I used on my toes about a month ago (peep it on my tootsies in this post). I love the depth and changing color scheme I was able to achieve pairing Nicole By OPI's The Grape Debate, Nubar's 2010, and Nicole By OPI's Pitch-Black Glimmer together. Gorgeous, mega sparkly, and quite interesting to look at (much like yours truly ).

A warning though: to fully capture the duochrome effect of the polishes, I had to take lots of pictures. Brace yourselves for awesomeness!

The Grape Debate provides a nice, plummy opaque base for Nubar's 2010 and Pitch-Black Glimmer to shine through. 2010 is a multi-colored flake topcoat, quite similar to Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure, a cult fave I was never able to find in stores. I offset the rainbow flakes in 2010--which flash copper, green, red, and gold--with the black & multicolor glitter found in Pitch-Black Glimmer (flashes black, blue, and silver).

In these pics you can really see the red, green, gold duochrome effect of the Nubar's 2010 in action, with just a hint of sparkle from Nicole By OPI's Pitch-Black Glimmer:

Here's a better pic showcasing the depth and interest Nicole By OPI's Pitch-Black Glimmer adds. You can peep the black glitter better, too:

Nicole By OPI's Pitch-Black Glimmer is such a unique polish--judging by the bottle, you'd assume it was a sparkly polish with a black base. However, in order for the black glitter to show up, the polish is actually sparkly with a clear base. An unusual combo for sure, but that distinction makes it a great polish for layering over other colors. To see how the polish looks on its own, peep this post.

If only pictures alone could capture how beautiful this mani is in-person. I love how the topcoats used make the look so multi-faceted. Different angles give my nails a whole new look!
