Listening to... 88-Keys - The Death of Adam

The Death of Adam is a clever concept album by producer/rapper 88-Keys. I've had this album for a while, but recently began bumpin' it again and I must say, I am definitely not disappointed. This album gets better and better with every listen. Not only is Death of Adam conceptually interesting (each song follows the sexual exploits of an everyman-type named Adam), the beats are fiyahhh--there's elements of rock, hip-hop, jazz and soul throughout the album, making for a great listen. J*Davey, Phonte from Little Brother, Kanye West, Redman, and Kid Cudi all make appearances, adding their respective musical touches to an already eclectic album.

To keep the narrative running smoothly, an unidentified round-the-way girl fills listeners in on Adam's adventures after each song. After "The Burning Bush," she says:
"So Adam told me he was mad as hell after dat! He was burnin' and he had to get a shot in his ass. He called that girl and cussed her the [blank] out! Called her all kinds of [blank]. He couldn't believe that [blank]!"
Her little interludes are funny and give the album a familiar feel. After you listen to all the songs, you're gonna realize you know about 10 real-life Adams (or maybe you're one yourself, heh).

Here's the tracklisting (it's more like a table of contents, since each song is like a story):

4. Handcuff 'Em

And here's the video to his first (and only, from what I can tell) single off the album, "Stay Up! (Viagra)" with the infamous Mr. West. Hilarious.
