Peach-y Keen: SEPHORA, KORRES reviews/swatches

Hey all. I know I've been M.I.A. around here... You know how you love something soooo much, but need a break from it every now & then to reappreciate it? Well, I decided to take a little internet break. Everyone needs one every now & then! But I'm back with a vengeance--and new makeup. These are the lipstick (SEPHORA Lip Attitude - Glamour lipstick in Coral Coquette), lip balm (KORRES lip butter in Mango), blush (SEPHORA Blush Me! in Corail Frisson no. 5), and retractable lip brush (tres cool) I got from a recent jaunt to the beauty store.

As you can see, there's a color theme to my most recent pickup. I've been obsessed with coral lately, which is a very flattering and fun Spring/Summer color. I thought it would look especially juicy on the lips, so I grabbed Sephora Lip Attitude - Glamour lipstick in Coral Coquette, which is described as a "sheer pink coral." Here's a swatch of it with my natural lip color for comparison:

I've never tried Sephora's lipsticks before, but I'd say the formula lives up to its' description on the store's site: "Rich, natural looking... This unique formula combines long-lasting wear, vibrant color, and moist, see-through color..."

These are good for people like me who shy away from heavy lipstick but still want some color and shine--but not necessarily (another) gloss.

I also picked up KORRES lip butter in Mango. I loooove the smell of this balm; it has a subtle yet deliciously fruity mango scent. And the way it applies is OMGAmazing. So moisturizing, and it makes my lips look super juicy with a sheer wash of color. The only issue I have with this balm is the little jar it comes in: there's no applicator, so you either have to use your fingers to swipe the product on or invest in a nifty little lip brush like yours truly.

You're probably thinking, "Hey chick, why'd you buy two of the same shades of lip shizz?" Well, I usually put lip balm under lipstick when I do wear it. I'd heard rave reviews about KORRES' lip butters, so I made sure to cop one of those for use alone or with a coral lipstick. I wasn't entirely sure how Sephora's lipstick would look once I got it home; because it's a sheer formula, there wasn't a need to double up on the balm and lipstick this time, though doing so punches up the color and shine of Sephora's lipstick (shown below, with flash):

Though the swatched products might look similar in these pics, compared to the KORRES lip butter, the Sephora lipstick has slightly more saturated color. This shows up better in person than I can capture on camera.

As for the Sephora blush, this is my first time trying those, too. This particular color, Corail Frisson no. 5, is an orangey-rose color with gold shimmer.

When first applying it, all I noticed was the shimmer. But continuous building with a blush brush gradually brought out the color on my cheeks:

I think this shade compliments the Sephora lipstick really well, which I'm also wearing (over KORRES lip butter) in this pic. I just wish it didn't take such a heavy hand to build the color up.

To be honest, I'll probably still buy the coral blush I'm really craving--MAC's Marine Life High Light Powder. I've been seeing fabulous swatches of this product all over the web and can't wait for the To The Beach collection to drop so I can cop it!
