My
China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Black Mesh
came in the mail this week (had to order it off of eBay because it's been sold out EVERYWHERE) and I'm so souped to finally have my hands on it! I had the
CoverGirl crackle polish in middle school and a few years ago I remember wondering what had happened to that finish. Well this season, both China Glaze and OPI have hopped onto the crackle bandwagon, with both companies releasing crackle polishes in a variety of color combinations:

OPI Katy Perry CollectionI started out with
Essie's Turquoise & Caicos
(turquoise jelly finish) as the base color. I thought the brightness of it would make a nice contrast against the

:
Turquoise & Caicos
also reminds me of the Tiffany Dunks I've longed for forever. I've yet to find them in a Mens 6.5

T&C
reminded me even more of the Dunks after I painted
Black Mesh
over it, followed by a coat of
Seche Vite
to seal it in:

I'd say the formula of China Glaze's Crackle polish is much better than Cover Girl's (after all, they've had more than a decade to improve). Once applied, the crackle effect took place almost immediately. There is a slight technique to applying the crackle polish though. Applying the polish thick yielded bigger cracks, while applying a thin layer made more discreet cracks:
Thick layer of polish on pinky; thin layer on ring finger
Also, be sure to apply the crackle polish only after your base polish has dried completely. I applied it on two nails while the base polish was still wet, and the effect was not pretty

So siced about my dope nails though!
