You know I couldn't let a day of celebration go by without the appropriate nail gear. As an early birthday gift to myself, I ordered some Fimo nail art off of eBay. Fimo is a polymer clay that is rolled into elongated canes, which are then thinly sliced to make nail decorations. You can buy the canes in their elongated form or order them pre-sliced, like I did. There's a whole video I found on the process of making them; fascinating!

I love that Fimo is so tiny, yet so detailed. It reminds me of my obsession with dollhouses when I was younger... all tiny everything!

For this look, I did an American manicure--like a French mani, but with colored tips--with
Nicole by OPI's The Grape Debate
(a deep plum) as the base and
Nicole by OPI's Glitz & Glisten
(glittery magenta) over top. I covered that with a clear base, and stuck the Fimo and a little nail jewel on top of that. Then I topped everything off with a couple coats of
Seche Vite
. Four days and counting, and my digital fruit salad is still intact.

iLove! Yet again, I find myself unable to tear my eyes away from my nails. If you see a hot chick with dreads walking around town and into oncoming traffic and various poles, signs and whatnot, just remember, her nails are probably very fierce.
