Drake = Pure, unadulterated corniness

I'm sorry but Drake Aubrey Graham has to be one of the corniest muhfuggas on the planet. I admit I jam out to his songs every now and then, but overall, he'll always be Wheelchair Jimmy from Canadia to me. People act like he's the first dude to ever combine rapping and singing... well, maybe he's the first to do it while looking like a sleepy hound dog/caveman/Mr. Potato Head. Anyways, there are a number of instances since his rise to fame where Drake Aubrey has displayed his sentimentality for all to see--and guffaw over.

Cases in point:

  • That terrible letter he wrote to Aaliyah on the anniversary of her death last year. I was truly in love with you... I said to myself that even if we never met, I wanted a woman in my life just like you... I hope I make the right life choices so I can end up in heaven where I know you rest your head. Seriously? How can you be "truly in love" with someone you've never met. And posting it on the internet like that just makes it seem insincere, like "LOOK AT ME! I'm ultra sensitive and can meet your emotional needs, girl." This letter was TOO extra, unintentionally hilarious, and a little creepy.
  • The near constant references to Nicki Minaj, their "marriage," and his undying love for her. I understand that's your labelmate, but for real, tone it down. For one, isn't this chick bi? She's even said in interviews she isn't looking for a a partner right now, so every word Drake espouses regarding this matter automatically looks stupid and desperate.
  • Hanging off Lil Wayne's nuts. Again, I understand he's your rap mentor and opened up a lot of opportunities for you through affiliation with his crew. But please, reign the lovefest in. Understand girl, we fam girl/Can't get me right and not do Wayne... ~"Show Me a Good Time." ...Yeah. Good lookin' out for his sexual satisfaction, too, Drake. THAT isn't suspect at all, bro Glitter Graphics | http://www.graphicsgrotto.com/
Then there's the many unflattering pictures of this man floating around the web...

Even Riri's like "Damn n*gga, enough with the PDA"

Lord, look at his face. He's so geeked (literally)

LMAO

There's even a website devoted to his many Drake faces. Smh. Step ya game up, boy!

So much for that grill I was gonna get...

Wondering how Lil Wayne managed to avoid going to the clink? A marathon eight root canals performed in one day (!!!).

During the procedures, Weezy also had his grill redone, had several tooth implants fixed, added more tooth implants, and had work done on some of his original teeth.

OMFG. I know how messed up I was after getting two of my wisdom teeth pulled out a few years ago. Puffy cheeks for days--I looked like a chipmunk. Thank God for painkillers though, I was knocked out for, like, three days. I can only imagine WTF Wayne's feelin' right now*.

If you think signing up for painful dental surgery sounds like a genius way to avoid sentencing though, check yaself: Mr. Carter's sentence for felony attempted gun possession is only on hold until March 2.

*Now that I think of it, he's probably really enjoying himself. Eight root canals, gahhhh!

Lil Wayne birthday cake

This cake was made for Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's daughter Ireland a.k.a. the girl whose father infamously called her a "rude little pig." I guess this makes up for it?

On a side note, why does his face say "WADE"? Fail.

On sale, 50 Cent!

I noticed that one of my top tracks for the past week (according to my handy little Last.fm widget to the right) is "Corner Bodega" by 50 Cent, a great riding song btw. Which led me to the thought, Remember when 50 Cent used to be cool? Like, right when he first started getting mainstream attention in 2000. At the lunch table in high school all everyone would talk about is how 50's that new hotness, how his mixtapes are pure fire, and how dope his then-album was. He's mad corny now, like a caricature of his former multiple gunshot wound, street warrior self, amirite?

Now he does press junkets with Bette Midler (major confused face here, what do these fools have in common?):

And tries to drum up interest in himself by starting beefs with rappers who are as popular now as he USED to be:

Let's not forget the infamous Kanye vs. 50 album sales beef (don't rappers see we're all on to the whole "fake beef" thing? IT'S SO PLAYED OUT)

When I was in NYC a couple summers ago, I asked this guy from Queens what he thought of 50. He said almost no one in the community respects him anymore, that once he got famous, he ditched his old neighborhood and got straight corny with it. In other words, he "sold out."

Yeah, go figure ::rolls eyes::

So many artists eventually sell out: Black Eyed Peas pre-Fergie; Missy Elliott--remember when she tried to capitalize off of that one really hot album she had, Miss E... So Addictive, by releasing two more really sh*tty albums right after? Yeah, FAIL; Ja Rule; Nelly. OMG there are SO many. And definitely not just in hip hop either. What musical sellouts are you guys still listening to, even if it's just their one hot song?

(PLEASE don't say Drake... I have the feeling with all this hype, he's gonna pull a "50" reeeeal soon. Which brings me to another thing that really grinds my gears: when an artist I knew about and listened to for ABOUT A YEAR before he/she blows up goes mainstream (remember when that song Drizzy did with Trey Songz a while back, "Replacement Girl," dropped? Hotness. Also totally annoying, when MIA's song "Paper Planes" got popularized by that Pineapple Express movie. Hello losers, that song was out for a good year and a half before it blew up AGAIN).
