Stuff I've been into lately

MUSIC: Curren$y

Not only have I had Pilot Talk on repeat, but also Spitta's past albums--especially Higher Than 30,000 Feet and Jet Files. Notice a theme here? #JETLIFE

MOVIES: Experimental film

A still scene from the very disturbing A Serbian Film

As soon as someone describes a movie as "notorious," (A Serbian Film) "at once horrifying and mesmerizing," (Gummo) or just plain "odd," (Dogtooth) I MUST see it and judge for myself. These are the reviews/synopses of some recent films I've seen:
DRINK: McD's Frappes & smoothies

I try to avoid McDonald's as much as possible, but the Golden Arches' latest offerings of ice cold Frappes and smoothies have drawn me back in. I LOVE iced coffee and chai lattes in the summer time (hell, even in the dead of winter) so the caramel Frappe is right up my alley. I've tried both versions of the smoothies--Mixed Berry & Strawberry Banana--and while they are both tasty, I'm partial to the Mixed Berry myself. I got free coupons for these in the mail, so check yours or scour the internet for some free deals on the Frappes and smoothies this week.

DYING TO: Go to the pool! Haven't been in or near one all summer and it's blowin' me man.

I racked up at Shecky's Girls Night Out

Here is but a sampling of all the products I received in my infamous Shecky's goodie bag. I say infamous because when I arrived yesterday, b*tches were wrapped around the block waiting to get in. After about 30 minutes in line and a couple of hours browsing the tables, I can attest to the fact that it is NOT THAT SERIOUS, other than the goodie bags and drinks, which were delicious.

I had never heard of Shecky's or Girls Night Out before this event, but I liken it to the free-for-all chaos that ensues when a store first opens its doors for a sale. Yeah, something like that. Back to the goodie bag though: that thing had to have weighed five pounds AT LEAST. It was nothing the complimentary drinks being served couldn't cure though. Not bad for $20 admission, eh?

Cheese!

Date #1: Adams Morgan (Part II)

OK, so we're in his car getting ready to leave, when the Kamikaze shots come back to say hello. SO EMBARRASSED redface Of course something like this would only happen to me, ON THE FIRST DATE. I'm fully convinced I've made a complete a$$ of myself and my date will never want to see me again... but first, I must pass out in the backseat of his car (cue Kanye West's "Drunk & Hot Girls").

So my date is driving past the venue we had just left when one of his friends (who was also present at the cipher) sees what a predicament we're in and offers to drive us back to my house. Date's friend gets in the driver's seat, my date gets in the passenger's seat, and I'm holding the backseat down, of course. Then, as soon as ol' boy offers to drive us home, another car full of his buddies drives right up to the car we're in, and homeboy gets in the back of THEIR car and bounces. Leaves the door open and car running and everything.

"I know he's comin' back," Date says.

Ten minutes later...

"I KNOW he's comin' back." He ain't nevah came back mad Some friends, guy! I think to myself.

"So how're we gonna get home?! You're wasted!" I say.

"I'll think of something! I gotchu," Date says.

Date reclaims the driver's seat* and I resume the fetal position in the backseat of his car.

Maybe 30 minutes later, I manage to prop myself up and slur, "Are we there yet?" Which totally startled my date, who apparently had forgotten I was passed out in the backseat *smh* Right at that moment, his tire blows out. Could this date get any worse?! Oh yes, it can.

"What the eff was THAT?!" I say.

"I think my tire just blew out!" says Date.

I pass out again (how helpful, right? lol). But not before I observe Date excuse himself, then get out the car, see the damage, and start angrily shaking his fists and dancing around mouthing cuss words (I couldn't hear him through the glass window), lmao. It was quite the scene lol

Anyways, somehow he manages to get the car into a gas station, where hopefully someone's around to help him change the tire. Luckily for Date, some crackhead posted up at the station offers his services. But not for free.

"Hey man, I'll help you change that tire for $5 and a screwdriver." A screwdriver though?

"Yeah a screwdriver. To change the tire with, man."

Uh, OK. Gonna need a lil more than a screwdriver to do that, homes. But Date got one out the trunk of his car and Mr. Crackie gets to work. Meanwhile, my date pukes his guts out in not one, but TWO places: In front of a closed CVS (they must have been so thrilled to open the store with THAT loveliness out front, lol) and this alley in back of the gas station.

"Betta not let the cops see you like that, buddy," says the crackhead. Getting morality lessons from a crackhead... yeah neutral You KNOW it's bad when a freakin' crackhead is telling you how to act in public!

Maybe an hour later (still passed out at this point... damn those Kamikazes!), Mr. Crackie has accomplished nothing with that screwdriver. Date confiscates the screwdriver and denies Mr. Crackie's request for $5 for his hour's long attempt at changing the tire. That's when some non-crackish random on a bike rolls through the station and offers to change the tire in exchange for a pack of cigarettes. Score!

So an hour after THAT, we're on the road again. I didn't make it home til 4:30 am and my mom was pissed at me for being out so late. But, maaaan... what a night smile

*I totally do NOT advocate drunk driving. Seriously, I was a member of SADD in high school and everything. But really though, sometimes it's one of those nights. I try to avoid nights like that as much as possible. Trufax!

Date #1: Adams Morgan (Part I)

Apologies for the lack of posts around here... what can I say, the holiday season is upon us confused Doesn't mean I've run out of blogging ideas... hell to the no!

I recently started seeing someone, and our first few dates have been so hilariously fun and random, I just HAVE to share with you guys. So, without further ado, here's the tale of Date #1...

The evening started off well enough. He picked me up at my house and we went to this dope spot in Adams Morgan I had never been to. It was a bar/lounge/tiny stage area type deal, a very cool little venue. That particular night, the place was having their monthly party: basically an open mic, but instead of the lame poetry of DC's most emo, the open mic was a rap cipher. Hotness!

We posted up at the bar and ordered some drinks. The bartender was making them so weak, so even after 3 cranberry & vodkas (him) and 3 rum & cokes (me... my limit when drinking or taking shots of anything is 3, after that I'm DONE) I was barely tipsy. Oh well, I wasn't trying to get wasted on the first date anyways.

We were chatting and whatnot, finishing our drinks and chillin. Seeing our drinks were almost done, the bartender offered us some Kamikaze shots.

"Wanna do shots with the bartender?" he asked us.

We figured it was his way of making up for those weak a$$ drinks.

"Sure," we said.

He made our shots and we downed those joints, figuring that if his drink-making skills were any indication, his shot-making skills would also be sub-par. That's when the cipher started. My date and I moseyed up to the stage area and had a great view of the cipher taking place. We were both having a great time. Not too much later, intermission was called and we went back to our seats at the bar.

"Another shot with me?" the bartender asked.

"OK, why not."

Right when that second shot was beginning to kick in, he whips it on us:

"That'll be $6 for the shots, man."

WTF?! When the bartender offers to do shots with you, that ish is supposed to be on the house. What a douchebag. Being the good sport he is, my date coughed up the dough while I secretly plotted vengeance on that sneaky a$$ bartender evil

Soon the cipher was on again... dudes were killin it! My special fella friend was taping most of it with a borrowed Flip video camera... Imma see if I can track the video down. Really, it was a dope time.

After that, the venue closed and everyone moved outside. This is where things get blurry for me. My date and I were chillin for a bit outside of the place; because he had the Flip video camera, dudes were tryna keep the cipher going in the skreets, lol. Ridiculous what some people'll do when a camera's present rolleyes Anyways, it was cold and getting late, so we head back to his car.

As soon as we get to his car, that's when I completely knock out. Man, those Kamikaze shots did the sneak attack on me, I was DONE. Funnily enough (is "funnily" a word? Meh, Imma roll with it), that's when the evening really started...

Happy 7/11 Day

Participating 7/11 stores are giving out free Slurpees today. Personally, I find Slurpees disgusting. It's just something about the frozen-ness and the carbonation-ness together that really turns me off sad

Smoothie King, on the other hand, I gets jiggy with.

That Nu-Nu

This has unofficially replaced Pink as my favorite drink. I say unofficially because, technically, I don't even drink like that anymore. That said, if you see me slumped over some bar somewhere, now you know what to tell the bartender to get me next.

I had a great time though

Taken approximately 4 days after making THIS statement. Life goals FAIL sad

But for real, as I type this, I'm trying to get through one of those mini bottles of wine (it was just chillin in the fridge for the longest, lookin so lonely y'all). You know, the ones that come in a 6-pack. So classay. Anyways, I can't do it! Plus I had to water the joint down with ice, lmao.

So much for my iron stomach of yore. Or hell, even last month.

I should prob. take this time to clarify my last statement in the link, that drinking isn't a good look for chicks. Esp. since I'm putting myself on blast posting the above picture smile I was halfway kidding with that, I meant "not a good look" in the sense of being completely trashed and out of it, you know what I mean? Maintain your drunken composure guys & gals! As you can see, I hold my liquor (literally and figuratively) QUITE well.

OK I'll step off my pedestal now. Carefully, because I'm still sippin this wine.

Buy U a Drank

Everyone is this pic is wasted, bet.

Drinking's kind of passe to me now. I mean, it was cool when I was underage and "rebelling" with my 6 pack of wine coolers. But now that I can drink everyday if I so choose, plus the fact that drinking tastes bad, gives you hangovers, makes you black out, is closely associated with frat boys/chicks that wind up looking like THIS in the streets, etc., I'm kind of over it.

I used to get it in up until I turned 21, then my drinking frequency just sort of tapered off from there. Not to knock anyone else who drinks, but it's just not my "thing" anymore. I'll have a sip every now and then or socially (only of something fruity & sweet, the bubbly or sparkling rosé... lmao), but other than that I'm not really tryna get "super wazted" anymore. It's not a good look, esp. for chicks (I'm lookin @ you, Madonna/girl in the link)

Dear drunk girl

Dear drunk girl,

Please stop talking to me in the bathroom line. I know you gotta piss because I can see you cupping your vag so ferosciously that you might pop your punanny. I do not want to discuss why there is no line for the men's restroom with you, go walk in there for Christs sake. Or better yet; wipe off your sweaty forehead, pick up your florescent tube top, and help your equally drunk girlfriend who is half passed out in the hallway. Y'all had one too many lemon drops and are hot messes.

What the, did you just call me Ma?
This is not NY and you aren't a smooth puerto rican papi trying to get in my panties. Get the hell out of here with that sh*t.

Sincerly,
Me.
Preach it, desboobs... lmao
